Nominees Announced for the Seoul International Drama Awards


The Seoul International Drama Awards are coming up, and they’ve announced the nominees for 2011. Countries from all over the world have submitted their dramas to be considered, with this year having a total of 204 collected pieces from 37 countries.

Nominees for best mini series included: “The Walking Dead” from the United States and “the UK’s “Luther.” Korea’s own “Dream High” and “My Girlfriend is a Gumiho” were also nominated.

“Shade’s of Happiness” from Germany, Japan’s “Goddess of the Toilet,” and “Casting Sword from China” are some of the nominees for best TV movie.

Canada’s “Little Mosque 5,” “Three Kingdoms” from China, and “Twinkle, Twinkle” from Korea will be competing for the best series award.

The nominations for best soundtrack songs included: “That Woman” by Baek Ji Young from “Secret Garden,” JYJ’s “Found” from “Sungkyungwan Scandal," Junyup’s “Nothing Happened” from “49 Days,” “Please My Bus” by Jang Geun Seok from "Mary Stayed Out All Night," and "The One" by Lee Seung Chul from "Bread, Love, and Dreams.”

Nominees for the male actor section included Iris Elba from “Luther,” and Chun Jenbin from “The Three kingdoms.” In the female category are: Na Moon Hee of “Grandma, It’s Me,” and Maria Furtwängler from “Shades of Happiness.”

Concerning the awards for best actor and actress, some of the best made made it past the preliminary nominations. In the best actor category: Jang Geun Suk from "Mary Stayed Out All Night,” Hyunbin for “Secret Garden,” Song Seung Heon for "My Princess," Kang Ji Hwan from "Coffee House," and Park Yoo Chun for "Sungkyungwan Scandal," were all nominated. Best actress nominations included: Kim Tae Hee for "My Princess,” Ha Ji Won for "Secret Garden," Park Min Young from "Sungkyungwan Scandal," Lee Yo Won from "49 Days," and Moon Geun Young for "Mary Stayed Out All Night."

The results will be determined by 70% of the international votes of Hallyu fans singed up for en.korea.com, and 30% of the votes of international broadcasting contents buyers. However, domestic reporters will determine the winners of the Writer Award and the Hallyu Drama category’s Director Award.

The awards ceremony will be broadcast August 31st, on SBS TV.
